In late September the SoCal Chapter had its first event at the Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Desert Center CA. The track is a 2.7 mile road course located about halfway between Palm Springs and the Colorado River, and has been open for about 2 and a half years.
Veterans enjoyed the challenge of learning a new track, and novices had the security of safe runoff areas as they increased skill, speed and confidence. Being late September and in the desert, the weather was above seasonal averages, hovering around 105 degrees midday Saturday and Sunday. In spite of the heat, both man and machine ran well throughout the event.

Although attendance was about half of what we normally see, the group developed a nice bond, especially embracing several first-timers. The traditional banquet dinner Saturday evening was full of lively conversation.
Sponsors APR, Motul, and Mothers Car Care provided raffle and auction-worthy items that added to the banquet fun and success. Vogel Properties generously sponsored the event shirts which were well received by all.
The recent receipt of ACNA banners and EZ-Up canopy added to the festive air at both the hotel check-in and tech, as well as at the track, where we were set up right at track entry.
Thanks to everyone for a great event!
