AUDIFEST AT INFINEON RACEWAY PROUDLY HOSTED BY THE GOLDEN GATE CHAPTER
Golden Gate Chapter looks forward to hosting the 27th Annual Frank Beddor National event and is pleased to welcome Audi Club North America members. The venue is Audifest at Infineon Raceway in the heart of the Napa-Sonoma wine country. There is much to see and do in Northern California and we encourage everyone to plan an extended stay and experience the areas scenic beauty while you are attending Audifest. Plan a day or two in Yosemite, Carmel, San Francisco, or Lake Tahoe. Lots to see and do the days before and after the Audifest event. Make this your annual vacation.
In addition to the National Event, there will be fun activities planned for members the day before. Participants will be able to register for all activities online. Fancy a wine tour of some of the finest wineries in the area? Leave the driving to us as a pre-arranged shuttle will take you to several area wineries. During the day a lunch will be provided. You will return to the hotel in time for early tech and early check-in at Infineon Raceway.
Another option for the day is a round of golf. Again, just check the box when you register for the event. Starting time will be around 9am at one of the better golf courses near the hotel. Fee includes cart, green fees, lunch, etc. You will be back to the hotel in plenty of time to get ready for tech and check-in.
Drive your wonderfully engineered Audis on some Marin county back roads? Maybe a drive to Mt. Tamalpais, Bodega Bay or ? This popular drive will start at the Event Headquarters hotel in Novato about 9am Friday morning. After lunch you will end the day back at the hotel or at the track for tech. Friday afternoon and evening will be at Infineon Raceway at the Audi Forum. That’s right, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the Audi Sports Car Experience hospitality in the Audi Forum at Infineon. Tech and check-in will be held at the Forum. Light dinner snacks and refreshments will be available for all attendees. After tech and check-in there will be a series of meetings in the Jim Russell Racing School classrooms in the Forum.
Saturday and Sunday (October 15-16) will be spent on one of the most famous race tracks in the world, Infineon Raceway (formerly Sears Point). Infineon has been hosting races for 50 years. The first race was won by Dan Gurney, and the only road course win by Dale Earnhardt was at Infineon in 1995. Just about every driver of any note in the past 50 years has driven at Infineon…Bell, Gordon, Patrick, Posey, Probst, Donahue, Andretti, Rahal, Foyt, etc. It is one track you need to see and drive. Infineon Raceway is 2.52 miles with 12 turns and a 160 foot elevation change that will challenge every driver. Every attendee will be provided an experienced instructor, classroom instruction, and printed materials to help guide you through the event.
During the day, on both Saturday and Sunday, you are welcome to enjoy watching your fellow students and instructors from the Big O Tire luxury suite at the top of the main grandstands above start/finish. From the Big O suite you can see most of the track and it is a terrific place to take a break and relax between your on track sessions and classrooms. Additionally, it is a chance to mingle with other Audi enthusiasts in a casual environment.
After a day on track learning more about your Audi’s capabilities, enjoy a relaxing evening at the Stone Tree Country Club for dinner. Part of the fun is bidding on a number of auction items from our sponsors. There are always some real bargains for you to take home as souvenirs. There will be other activities during dinner plus the member of the year will be announced.
On Sunday, Audi Sportscar Experience will have several R8s on track and you will have the opportunity to purchase laps in an R8 with one of the ASCE Instructors driving. Many have told us that this was one of the highlights of Audifest. A chance to be on track with an Audi instructor in an R8 is an opportunity you won’t want to miss.
